How Home In Humboldt Began
Home in Humboldt began with a simple question: how can local employers work together to make relocating to Humboldt County easier? After moving to the area himself, Providence St. Joseph CEO Michael Keleman saw firsthand what makes the region so special, along with the challenges local employers face when recruiting and welcoming new talent. He brought the idea to the Redwood Coast Chamber Foundation, and the timing felt right: this was a shared challenge many local organizations and employers had long recognized, and one the community was ready to tackle together. The Chamber Foundation stepped in as a connecting point, bringing employers together, researching comparable programs, and developing what is now Home in Humboldt, launched in 2026, a collaborative effort to help new residents feel supported, connected, and welcomed as they make Humboldt home.
